The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted an implementation committee for the Amaravati Economic Region (AER), tasked with coordinating planning, investment and infrastructure projects across nine districts surrounding the capital.
Which districts are covered
The AER spans NTR, Krishna, Eluru, West Godavari, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam and Markapuram districts, an area officials describe as forming an integrated, globally competitive economic corridor anchored by Amaravati.
What the panel will do
The implementation committee’s mandate includes aligning industrial, logistics and urban development projects across the nine districts so that growth around the capital does not remain confined to government buildings alone, but extends into manufacturing, services and connected townships nearby.
The bigger picture
The move follows Amaravati’s statutory recognition as Andhra Pradesh’s sole and permanent capital and comes as the state seeks to position the wider capital region as a magnet for domestic and international investment, alongside the education and IT hubs already taking shape in and around Amaravati and Visakhapatnam.
